I’m a passionate artist first and foremost. My other love is teaching. I hold a doctorate in education and I’ve spent the last 20 years working as a teacher. I have led over 700 students through my premium, signature online program Energy.Motion.Flow: The Beauty of Alcohol Inks and Beyond.

I teach artists of all skill levels to break free from constraints and discover their true potential.

Alcohol inks have helped me to think outside the box (although, I’m not entirely sure I was ever really in one to begin with!) and pushed me to create my own unique style of painting.

Alexis Bonavitacola is an award-winning artist, a creative entrepreneur, and passionate educator. She has spent over 20 years working as a teacher and public school administrator and holds a doctorate in education. Alexis teaches artists of all skill levels to discover their true creative potential by giving them the confidence and encouragement they need to explore and discover new artistic possibilities. Past students call her the ‘Soul Art Shaman’ and her courses ‘Yoga for the soul’.

In a modern world where we can access every tool or resource we need with the touch of a finger, (but not always with the personal touch we crave), Alexis is carving out a slice of online space to create a truly connected and encouraging online community. Fundamentals Module

FUNDAMENTALS MODULE: LAYING THE FOUNDATION FOR LEARNING

This is the module where we develop our big goals for the class. We’ll get connected in the Facebook Community, discuss feedback, make sure we have our supplies, navigate the course room and create the perfect growth mindset for our time together. This is the time that we plan for success. You'll even receive a downloadable Plan for Success - Creating A Space For Learning PDF to set you on the right path for our creative time together. There are over 16 videos as well as downloadable PDFs for you to enjoy as this Fundamentals Module lays the perfect groundwork for our time together.

Module 1

MODULE 1: EXPLORING ALCOHOL INKS

Module 1 is packed full of demos about the supplies you’ll need, including inks and paper - basically, everything you ever wanted to know about the inks but were afraid to ask! Get ready for over 48 videos in Module 1! We’ll create a few small “inky” pieces but quickly move to the more fluid pieces testing out more and more techniques and approaches. You’ll learn all about encaustic waxes and how to use them individually in a work of art or to enhance your alcohol inks paintings.

Module 2

MODULE 2: BLOOMS

Everyone loves painting flowers and you will watch 53 videos just in blooms alone! I’ll explore painting flowers (some red and white poppies, various blooms of color, and other flowers that move us). We’ll paint Blooms in both inks and encaustics – what fun! You’ll also have access to my many Pinterest boards for inspiration. Plus, lots of inspiration for you to take in and my fab tips and tricks to have your art made on products.

Module 3

MODULE 3: EXPRESSIVE LANDSCAPES

We’ll be inspired by other wonderful artists to give us ideas for possible creations. Even former students share their step-by-step instructions on how to make gorgeous trees. Other students will share their art and instructions throughout the course. This module contains an additional 38 videos and expressive landscapes has become a highlight of the course.

Module 4

MODULE 4: SEA AND SKY

In this module, we will explore the elements and learn how to create truly beautiful skies and seascapes, and how to use inks and encaustics for added dimension in making waves and glorious clouds. We ease up just a little in this module as all of the techniques learned in the previous module lay the foundation for this terrific module filled with an additional 30 videos.

Bonus Module

BONUS MODULE: SO MUCH GOODNESS!

This module is a potpourri of goodies, containing 37 videos and podcasts (over nine hours of content) - this includes learning all about elevating your art in different ways. In this bonus module, I'll be interviewing several inspirational guest artists, teaching you some invaluable social media tips, and discussing the business aspect of creating, teaching art, and selling. We will cover sustaining an alcohol ink community and making connections, copyright, marketing and selling your work in craft shows, and getting your work in galleries. All themes include many art demonstrations, as well as inspirational TED talks which, to my students, are just one of the highlights of my unique e-course.
